Jonathon Kelly

Joined club:
2004

Other clubs I have played for:
None.

Position:
Striker.

Football career highlights (with club or other club):
Scoring 3 goals in the 1st Telford tournament of the 2006/07 BBS season.

Successes with club:
Finished Runners-up in the 2007 BBS 5-a-side Open Tournament with South Shields VIFC, and also finished as Runners-up of the Premiership division in both the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons of the North East Ability Counts 7-a-side league. I was also proud to win the Most Improved Player in my first season with the club after playing in most of the games that season. I found it difficult at first but quickly settled into the team.

My favourite goal/save for the club:
Probably the goal I scored in my first tournament for the club in Manchester against RNC. Taking a quick free-kick Dave Seymour passed the ball to me and I ran onto it, hitting the ball with power and accuracy into the bottom corner. It felt good because it was my first goal for the club. The other goal I would choose is the one I scored against QAC in the first Manchester tournament of 2006/07. It wasn’t my best finish but it was an excellent team goal and it felt good to be the one to hit the ball into the net. Our goalkeeper Paul passed the ball to Lee Cawkwell, who held the ball up passing it across to Dave who knocked it diagonally across the pitch first time to Lee Robinson who flicked the ball nicely into my path and I went on to score.

My favourite game with the club:
That would be the win against West Bromwich Albion B in the first Telford tournament of 2006/07. Winning 4 out of 4 games felt special and the reaction to the goal by all our players and coaches was amazing. This was the same in the semi-final of the North Shields Tournament when we beat West Bromwich Albion A 3-2 to reach a place in the final against Loughbrough.

Professional football:
Football Team(s) I support and why:
Newcastle.

My favourite football player(s) and why:
It has to be Newcastle United striker (you’ve guessed it) Shola Ameobi – the guys a legend.

My favourite game(s) and why:
Luton versus Liverpool in the 3 rd round of the 2005/06 FA Cup. Luton were winning 3-1 but Liverpool came back to win 5-3. The game had everything and was finished by an excellent 60 yard shot by Liverpool’s Alonso.

My favourite goal/save and why:
My choice would be Laurent Robert’s brace against Tottenham. He hit a powerful shot from well outside the box which flew into the Spurs net. What made it more special was he repeated it again later in the match.

My ambitions as a player:
To win something with the club and also improve on my Most Improved Player trophy by winning an award as a player.

Other sports and hobbies I am interested in:
None really.
