Joined club:
From the very beginning with our first kick about being way back in June 1994.
Other clubs I have played for:
Only other VI club was RNC during the 1991/92 season.
Position:
Defender. For many years I have played on the right side of defence but my versatility has recently taken me to the left side of defence.
Football career highlights (with club or other club):
Winning promotion in our inaugural season in 1994/95.
Finishing in 3rd position in first season in first division in 1995/96 and being voted players' player of the year for the club at the end of this season.
Playing in the final of the inaugural 7-a-side final in 1997.
Second division champions 1999/2000.
Being a part of what felt like the best team in the country on the day when we went undefeated in the Slough tournament in February 2001.
Premiership runners-up in the Durham FA Ability Counts league in 2005 and 2006.
Player of the year and players' player of the year for 2005/06.
Successes with club:

My favourite goal/save for the club
I scored the final goal of the final game in a 2-0 win against White Rose of Leeds in a game that rounded off a perfect tournament when we won six out of six games at Coventry in November 1994. Mark Edwards (goalkeeper) threw the ball to me in defence and then I ran the length of the pitch taking on two players before somehow scoring with my left foot on the half volley.
My favourite game with the club:
Hopeless at making decisions so I have picked two: -
3-1 win against Inter Cosmos (Slough, February 2001)
3-2 win against West Brom A (Telford, December 2006)
Professional football:
Football Team(s) I support and why
Newcastle United because I am a Geordie (under one of the definitions anyway).
My favourite football player(s) and why:
Peter Beardsley - Skill, work rate. Great professional and the perfect team player.
Paul Gascoigne - Not exactly the consummate professional with his attitude and temperament leaving a lot to be desired. However, his collection of mental health problems should provide a degree of mitigation and there are many who believe that Gazza could have been the best player in the world if it wasn't for his problems.
My favourite game(s) and why:
How can you go any further than the spectacular that was Liverpool's 4-3 win over Newcastle during the 1995/96 season. However, I did quite enjoy Newcastle's 5-0 win over Manchester United in 1996/97. Then again, you have to go a long way to better the 3-2 win over Barcelona in 1997. I'll stop there!
My favourite goal/save and why:
Maradona against England at the Mexico 86 World Cup - Despite what anyone might think about the little Argentinean, everyone who follows football would love to score a goal like Diego's where he picked up the ball in his own half and took on half the team.
Gascoigne against Scotland in Euro 96 - This goal may look a lot simpler in its execution than Maradonna's in 1986. However, I believe that the vast majority of players would not have even thought about the possibility of doing what Gazza did. Flicking the high ball over the head of Colin Hendry, spinning around the centre-half and hitting the ball into the net in one fluid motion was pure class.
My ambitions as a player:
To stay calm.
Other sports and hobbies I am interested in:
I've got a couple but I'm keeping them secret as I may get locked up for one and have the pee taken out of me for the other.
Other comments:
Starting this football club has been one of the most brilliant and challenging experiences of my life. I would like to thank the other original 7 lads for making my vision come true, Dave Seymour for bringing the club back to life and Joe Barron for giving the club the extra kick-start it needed when he returned to the club in early 2006.
